2020年の「WAP」に続くコラボ。ニューアルバムに関する新たな情報も？

<p>2018年のデビューアルバム『Invasion of Privacy』以来となる新作が待たれているCardi B（カーディ・B）がMegan Thee Stallion（ミーガン・ザ・スタリオン）と新たなコラボ曲「Bongos」をリリースし、MVを公開した。</p>
<p>アメリカの祝日9月4日の「レイバー・デー」に合わせて公開されたアートワークは2人がロリポップを片手にセクシーな衣装に身を包んでおり、リリース前から2人らしい曲になるだろうと期待されていた。トラップ系というよりもBPMの速い、ラテンよりのトラックに2人のラップが乗った今作はクラブヒット間違いなし!!</p>

<h3>「WAP」を越えるヒットとなるか</h3>
<p>Cardi BとMegan Thee Stallionと言えば2020年にリリースされた「WAP」も記憶に新しい。「WAP」はその性的に過激なリリックが多方面で話題となり、アパレルラインで使用するために商標登録も申請するなど、チャートアクション以外でも注目された曲。</p>
<p>「WAP」のリリース1年後にはCardi Bが「もう一度コラボするべきね」とSNSで投稿。Megan Thee Stallionも「Happy WAPIVERSARY」とレスポンスしていた。その後さらに2年が経っての「Bongos」。MVのプレミア公開と合わせて行われたライブストリーミングでは「WAPのような曲だという期待を裏切りたかった」と話すCardi B。Megan Thee Stallionにとってはこのタイプのトラックは初めてだったようで、自分にとって“チャレンジ”だったとコメントしていた。</p>

<h3>Cardi Bのニューアルバム</h3>
<p>8月のインタビューでは「これ以上コラボ曲は出さない、次はソロの曲よ」と話していたCardi B。結果としてコラボ曲が先にリリースされたが、アルバムに向けたソロのリードシングルも準備中だろう。ニューアルバムに関しての詳細は発表されていないものの、彼女の中ではすでにリリース日も頭にあるようで、「10月（彼女の誕生月）には何も仕事したくない」とも話しているので9月中、あるいは11月にリリースされることが濃厚か。</p>
<p>また「Beyoncé（ビヨンセ）はアルバムに参加しているか」と聞かれると明らかに言葉を濁したCardi B。現在ツアー中のBeyoncéに時間があったとは思えないが、Megan Thee Stallionに続いてヒューストンのビッグアーティストとのコラボの可能性はゼロではない。</p>

Cardi BがMegan Thee Stallionと再びコラボ!! ニューシングル「Bongos」をリリース

遂に女優としても本格的にキャリアをスタート!! ラッパーの先輩役者としてQueen Latifah、Ice Cubeに影響を受けたと語る。

<p>先日Summer Sonic 2022で待望の初来日を果たしたラッパーのMegan Thee Stallion（ミーガン・ザ・スタリオン）が女優業への本格進出を果たすことが報じられた。</p>
<p>出演するのはDisney＋より配信中のマーベル・シネマティック・ユニバース（MCU）ドラマ『シー・ハルク：ザ・アトーニー（英題:She-Hulk: Attorney at Law）』。今のところキャラクター名など詳細は発表されていない。</p>

<h3>女優としても可能性を秘めている</h3>
<p>ラッパーやシンガーが映像作品に進出することは多く、Megan Thee Stallionにとっても目標のひとつであった。すでに今年に入ってからはStarzのストリッパー・ドラマ『P-Valley』にゲスト出演し、今後A24による初のミュージカル・コメディ『F＊＊＊ing Identical Twins』への出演も決定している。</p>
<p>『P-Valley』で共演した俳優のJ. Alphonse Nicholson（J・アルフォンス・ニコルソン）はMegan Thee Stallionについて「60年代の作品でもSF映画でも、彼女にはこなすことができる」と役者としての才能を認めていた。ちなみに女優としての夢は2001年に公開された映画『チアーズ!』のリブート版でアイシス役を演じることだとインタビューで答えている。</p>

<p>役を演じるだけでなく、さらにディレクターやプロデューサーにも興味があるというMegan Thee Stallionはベテランラッパーであり、数多くの映像作品に出演してきたQueen Latifah（クィーン・ラティファ）とIce Cube（アイス・キューブ）にインスパイアされ「彼らを見ていると音楽だけじゃなくて、もっと活動の幅を広げられると思わせてくれる」とコメント。</p>
<p>Queen Latifahは2002年の映画『シカゴ』ではアカデミー賞、英国アカデミー賞、ゴールデングローブ賞でそれぞれ助演女優賞としてノミネート。Ice Cubeは1991年に『ボーイズ'ン・ザ・フッド』で映画デビューすると、1998年に初監督・主演作品となる『ザ・プレイヤーズ』を公開している。Megan Thee Stallionもゆくゆくは彼らのように映画のアワードでスピーチする日が来るのかもしれない。</p>

<p>先日Cardi B（カーディ・B）とのコラボ曲「Bongos」をリリースしたばかりのMegan Thee Stallion（ミーガン・ザ・スタリオン）。ラッパーとして活躍する彼女はかねてから映像作品などに役者として出演することにも興味を持っていた。そんな彼女にとって待望の初出演となるミュージカル・コメディ映画『Dicks: The Musical』が今月29日に全米で公開開始となる。</p>
<p>『Dicks: The Musical』はA24によって配給され、『The Greatest Showman』のプロデューサーと『Borat』の監督Larry Charles（ラリー・チャールズ）らによって制作された作品。A24はMegan Thee Stallionが最優秀楽曲賞でアカデミー賞を獲得することも期待している。</p>

<p>全米公開に先駆けてトロントでのプレミア公開が行われた『Dicks: The Musical』。そのサントラからまずは「All Love Is Love」が公開された。まさにミュージカルの舞台というべきこの曲は出演するAaron Jackson（アーロン・ジャクソン）、Josh Sharp（ジョシュア・シャープ）らの他にボーカリストとしてシンガーのLauren Evans（ローレン・エヴァンス）も参加し、作曲は「Moulin Rouge」のMarius de Vries（マリウス・デ・フリース）、Karl Saint Lucy（カール・セイント・ルーシー）が手がけている。</p>
<p>サントラは全25曲が収録され、映画に出演するMegan Thee Stallalionも「Out-Alpha the Alpha」というダンス・ラップナンバーで参加しているとのこと。サントラは映画公開から遅れて10月6日にリリース予定となっている。</p>

<h3>アカデミー賞獲得なるか</h3>
<p>8月に公開されたトレイラーでは映画のワンシーンの中でラップも披露しているMegan Thee Stallion。サントラでの曲以外にも劇中で彼女らしい言葉遣いでのセリフやラップが期待できるだろう。</p>
<p>しかしアカデミー賞95年の歴史の中でヒップホップが受賞したことはたったの3曲しかないのも事実で、2002年の『8 mile』からEminem（エミネム）による「Lose Yourself」、2005年の『Hustle &amp; Flow』から「It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp」、そして『Selma』からCommon（コモン）とJohn Legend（ジョン・レジェンド）による「Glory」となっている。</p>
<p>これはヒップホップに多用される放送禁止用語の多さが問題視されていると見られており、その説で考えるとアカデミー賞を狙うことは、これまでにBillboard Music Awardsやグラミー賞も獲得している彼女にとって、もう一段階レベルの上がったチャレンジとなるかもしれない。</p>
